Episode #38 - “We’ve got a bleeder!”

November 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

After taking a week off from running, I hit the road again in my futile attempt to actually pound myself into the pavement. In this podcast, I talk about what’s on my mind and make a plea to all male runners out there to take care of their nipples.

Some links mentioned in the show (I think I mentioned these):

Run Run Live podcast

Runcast TV

Charlotte’s “Thunder Road” Marathon

The opening sound clip was from the 1998 movie, “There’s Something About Mary.”

Video - Richmond Marathon 2008

November 16th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Several of my training partners ran the Richmond Marathon and half marathon. This is a short video of my vantage point as a spectator. It’s hard to see on the video due to it being compressed, but there’s a [unknown] runner who comes in at the end who really should have worn nipguards.

Video - OBX Marathon

November 10th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I made this video with my ‘Flip’ video camera as I ran the 2008 Outer Banks, NC, marathon. The race course had terrain that I didn’t know existed on the barrier islands. I’ve vacationed in the Outer Banks almost every year since I was a teenager and never experienced it like I did on race day. But then again, I never ran a marathon in the Outer Banks before November 9, 2008.

Episode #34 - Tapering Around Road Kill

October 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m in “taper” mode now although the miles seem endless to get my body ready for the Outer Banks Marathon. In this episode, I hit the hills on Blunts Bridge Road (see a vulture having dinner) and have trouble deciding to run 5 or 7 miles. I also include a neat race report audio clip at the end of the show.

Episode #33 - Peak Mileage Week

October 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

After this week, I have three weeks before my November 9th marathon. I’ll peak at 40 miles this week and taper for three weeks. Some runners taper for only two. I’m trying something different for this race. In this podcast, I talk about my weekly mileage and how it feels to be locally “famous.”
