I'm in a down cycle right now but I think there's an up cycle out there somewhere. This podcast has some notes on the ups and downs of participating in the sport of long distance running.

Anyway, someone made a cool video of the Cul-de-sac race #3. I never saw anyone with any type of video camera at the race but I'm all over this video if you know who I am!

    Down times mean your body is tired. Up times will come after your body has recovered. So, give yourself some extra rest for a few days. Reduce distance. Run slower. Do more light crosstraining.

    Dave, thanks for the memories and farewell wishes on the latest episode. What you said about both Rachel and me was very nice - I’ll be sure to have her listen to at least the first bit, as I know she’ll be touched.

    It’s funny to think when we did our first marathon, you looked up to us as “celebrities” - I don’t even remember that! These days, you’re easily the pacesetter for our group: the only podcaster (and wow, over 100 episodes!), our first ultra finisher, and the most impressively disgusting injury yet. I’ve had to limit myself to half marathons the past few years, but someday I’d love to be able to be a frequent [ultra?]marathoner like you.

    Thanks again and we’ll do our best to get together before Canada!

    I remember you talking about these Cul-de-sac in previous podcasts but I had no idea they were so well organized and so many people ran them. Really cool. I always though it was just a small pick-up group. Looks like fun.

    Need to clarify, am from Ohio was vacationing in Williamsburg VA, marathon coming up is the Akron Marathon in Ohio and I will be enjoying some Michelob Ultra at the end of the race.

    I consider down time recovery time, at some point we have to take a break from the training and races.
