Railroad Run 10k - Logistics for 31 Miles - Episode #57
Wednesday Apr 08, 2009
Wednesday Apr 08, 2009
Publishing a podcast on the internet is as easy as 1-2-3 if the planets are all in alignment, there's a full moon and you have a computer (with software) that agrees with what you want to do. In this podcast, things worked out this week and I was able to get out another episode. I talk about the great race in my town, the Ashland Railroad Run 10k (in its 31st year) and the logistics of running 23 miles after running a 10k. I also feature some listener comments which include a great marathon report from Pat of Williamsburg, VA. I hope you like the show. Oh yeah, I also met Dr. Smitty, who is a great 10k runner, marathoner, and ultramarathoner. Dr. Smitty visited the Center of the Universe and placed in his age group in the 10k! Music in this podcast by GarageBand and the U.S. Marine Band.

Rocks in my Shoes - Bugs in my Computer - Episode #55
Wednesday Mar 25, 2009
Wednesday Mar 25, 2009
You never realize how dependent upon you are on a laptop computer until it's gone for a few days. In this podcast, I put together some audio clips in a more crude fashion than previous shows due to my massive podcast production studio being in disrepair. I also provide a training update, go over some listener comments and wonder if my shoes are engineered to allow small rocks to get in every time I run. Music by U.S. Marine Band and Derek Miller's Penmachine

Tuesday Mar 10, 2009
I posted a personal best at the Lower Potomac River Marathon in Maryland. And I did it with 40 minutes of walking! In this podcast, I explain how the 25/5 method benefitted me more than I thought it would. Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band

Much Can Happen in 22 Miles - Episode #53
Tuesday Mar 03, 2009
Tuesday Mar 03, 2009
If you're slow like me, then it takes several hours to run twenty-two miles. A lot can happen in several hours. In this podcast, I 'run' into several people I know, several people I don't really know, and spend some time alone. I also get so mentally involved near the end of the run that I forget to take a walk break. Episode #52 - Running in the Center of the Universe
Friday Feb 27, 2009
Friday Feb 27, 2009
Sometimes endurance training isn't always exciting and inspirational. Sometimes it's just mundane and a matter of putting miles under your feet in order to achieve a distance goal. In this podcast, I consider the regularity that distance running can impose and ponder ways to deal with it. Episode #51 - Back on Track
Sunday Feb 22, 2009
Sunday Feb 22, 2009
Sometimes you have to alter your training plan depending on what messages you're receiving from your body. My body rebelled after running 40+ miles last week so I needed to dial it back a bit. But now I think I'm back on track and ready to increase the workload. In this podcast, I've included an amateur audio commercial for the upcoming Ashland Railroad 10k Run. The race is in its 31st year and is the longest running 10k in the area.
