My motivation seems to be back and for some reason it might have something to do with a guy who runs the wrong way on an indoor track. That and other commentary in this week's podcast. I traveled to Chesapeake, Virginia, which is normally an easy 2 hour drive, to check on my good friend Dr. Smitty who ran almost 30 miles in a heat index of 116 degrees. I got stuck in traffic and arrived just in time to hang out for the last 1.5 miles of his effort. Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine graveyard100

This podcast is about the lack of respect that sub 5 hour marathoners get in running publications. My question is on whose authority does running a sub 4 hour marathon make you better than the sub 5 hour marathoner? There is really no answer to the question but this podcast explores some of that line of thinking. The second part of the podcast focuses on a friend named Shannon who made a marathon PR by simply relaxing. Music by Garageband, U.S. Marine Band, and the late Derek Miller's Penmachine

Not all ultramarathons are the same. My upcoming ultra in Florida will be hot and I'll be bringing some things with me to help. I'm sad to report that Derek Miller has died. I never met Derek but I've been using his free music on the podcast for a few years. Derek was a unique person and I encourage you to learn more about his life at the link below. The 33rd running of the Ashland Railroad Run was a success. I am very proud to be a part of a tradition that was here long before I was. What's cool about this event is that it's a little bit different each year and you never know what can happen. In this podcast, I share some anecdotes from the event and provide each listener with some insight about directing a 10k road race. There are so many details when producing a road race that it really helps to share the work load!
