The Outer Banks Marathon is now over. There is so much preparation for just one day of running. Sometimes it's a good day, and sometimes it's a bad day. I had a good day.

I'm in "taper" mode now although the miles seem endless to get my body ready for the Outer Banks Marathon. In this episode, I hit the hills on Blunts Bridge Road (see a vulture having dinner) and have trouble deciding to run 5 or 7 miles. I also include a neat race report audio clip at the end of the show. Some links related to what was mentioned in the show: Ashland Harvest 10K Run Trilogy Running Podcast Mark Junkerman's Race Series (awesome) Richmond (Virginia) Marathon Super Kwik Half Marathon Results 2009 Texas Independence Relay

After this week, I have three weeks before my November 9th marathon. I'll peak at 40 miles this week and taper for three weeks. Some runners taper for only two. I'm trying something different for this race. In this podcast, I talk about my weekly mileage and how it feels to be locally "famous." Some links mentioned or alluded to: Blunts Bridge Half Marathon Challenge Route (check out the elevation profile!) In this podcast, I talk about the Maymont Half, the upcoming 24 Hours of Endurance and the overall state of my training at this point. I mentioned a few links in the show: Ari's Running Blog Trilogy Running Podcast Super Kwik Half Marathon (doesn't have a website but this link has info) World Wide Half Marathon

Black toe is not a good thing to have but it can be managed. In this podcast, I talk about that and some other things while putting down some miles during a training run while I was out of town.

I'm ready for a fall back week after this long training run. This is week #7 of my 16 week marathon training program for the Outer Banks Marathon on November 9, 2008. Fourteen miles is a long way, especially when running alone. In this podcast, I try to keep a positive perspective but it was hard. My email is ashlanddave@gmail.com Posted on Patriot Day 2008, God Bless the USA.
